Old Photos of Anglesey / Sir Fôn in North Wales, United Kingdom of Great Britain. Old Photos of Anglesey / Ynys Môn in North Wales. Anglesey is the largest of the islands in the United Kingdom. An ancient lands of Celts, and abundant with ancient monuments like burial chambers, standing stones, and early settlements. It has the largest place name in the world, and also the Menai Bridge, which at the time of its' being built was the longest suspension bridge in the world - designed by Telford. The shortest sea route to Ireland is from Holyhead, and at one time Parys Mountain was the largest producer of copper in the world. After the Romans left Anglesey it became an island of famous early Celtic saints, like St Seiriol and St Cybi, and they have all left their mark. More famous - I suppose - today for the wonderful beaches, the atmosphere of peace, and the slow moving way of life that the Anglesey peoples enjoy. Together we can build a wonderful archives of these old, vintage, historical, edwardian or victorian pictures.
