Although the present Llangaffo Church - dedicated to St Caffo - was only built in 1845, it replaced a much earlier church which was situated just yards away, where the 'preaching stone' now stands.

There are several antiquities, including a number of cross-incised stones - apparently indicative of there having been a monastery in the area.

Within the church there is an absence of mounted memorials, but plastered into the wall of the vestry is a 6th or 7th century inscribed stone, said to be written in a very early welsh language.
