Rhondda Valleys, Tylorstown, Pendyrus Male Choir in 1928 - conducted
by Mr.Arthur Duggan.
In 1924 two out of work miners came up with the idea of forming
a choir - their names were Ben Jones and Emlyn
Drew. Mr Arthur Duggan became the musical director of what became
known as Pendyrus Male Choir in the same year as it was founded,
a post he held until 1960. The above photo taken in 1928 - just
four years after the choir was formed shows just how much it had
grown since the two friends had founded it in Ebenezer Chapel -
sadly now demolished.
Now renowned throughout the world, with achievements far too numerous
to mention, and still going as strong as ever.
