Glamorgan, Rhoose, Coleg-y-Fro College in 1968

Glamorgan, Rhoose, Coleg-y-Fro College staff and pupils on May 31st 1968

In 1968 the NCB (National Coal Board) sent me to a college in Rhoose named Coleg-y-Fro for one week. The college motto was "Every privelige has its responsibility".

The purpose of the College - which opened in 1950 - was to provide training in Christian
Citizenship forYouth in Industry. The college closed in 1978.

I seem to remember that the short course was intended to remind us of the importance of such things as sexual and personal cleanliness, respect for others and vigilance in our work - it probably seems a little odd now that you might go on a course for those reasons.
