Wattstown colliery was the scene of more than one mining disaster, some where hundreds were killed. John Harris, the great grandfather of this webmaster, was brought home dead in 1913 - at the age of 38 he had been almost decapitated by a roof fall down the colliery.

Together we can build a wonderful archives of these old images. If you have any old, vintage, historical, edwardian or victorian pictures of Glamorgan / Sir Morgannwg, from the earliest days of photography, right up to the 1960's, then please do scan them for display and preservation on this site. Preferably either 1024 pixels in width, or for portrait style photographs 1024 pixels in height.
