Leominster is a market town located 12 miles from Hereford in the county of Herefordshire in England. There are a total of five towns in the county, Leominster being the largest. The Welsh name for Leominster, used on the Welsh side is Llanllieni - Llan being the Welsh word for not only a church but also including the religious enclosure in which the church stands.
In the year 1052 The Battle of Llanllieni took place, this took place following a raid by Gruffudd ap Llywelyn on Leominster. The Welsh defeated a combined force of Saxons and Normans.
