King George VI - who was crowned following the abdication of his brother, became a firm favourite with the public. Both he and Queen Elizabeth were a great source of morale and support to the people, in particular during the London bombings of World War II.

It must be remembered that if George VI had not become the King we would never have had Queen Elizabeth II (his daughter) or the wonderful Queen Mother (Elizabeth) his wife.

Together we can build a wonderful archives of these old images. If you have any old, vintage, historical, edwardian or victorian pictures of the Royal Family, from the earliest days of photography, right up to the 1960's, then please do scan them for display and preservation on this site. Preferably either 1024 pixels in width, or for portrait style photographs 1024 pixels in height.
