Middlesex, Acton, Curzon Laundry, Bertie George Walter Chapman in 1910 - Bertie looked after the horses before and after returning from the War in 1918. He served out in the Middle East with the R.A.S.C. under General Allenby. He was assigned to the Ambulance Service and was responsible for their horses and mules. During battles and skirmishes he had to rescue and carry the injured back on mule litters. After the war he returned to look after the horses at the laundry. The horse above had had wind pipe trouble and had a silver tube inserted in its neck to help it breath.- photos of Curzon Laundry on this page are kindly shared from the collection of Margaret Chapman.
