Northumberland, Bellingham, The Railway Hotel, Common Riding Festival - the image is kindly shared with us from the collection of Mr. Ben Hall.

The Railway Hotel in Bellingham has now been re-named the Cheviot Hotel. The practise of 'common riding' is a festival enjoyed by some English, but mostly Scottish border towns, and harks back to a time when the men of a village or town would ride the parish borders in protection of the parish.
